Kennesaw State welcomed Ohio Valley Conference member Tennessee Tech to Kennesaw, Ga., for a non-conference matchup in The Nest.

It had been 301 days since KSU last played at home and Owl Nation was primed for a primetime matchup under the lights at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

what a night...

The announced crowd of 8,418 marked the Owls 10th sellout and also marked the 10th-largest football crowd in school history.

Darnell Holland Sighting...

Junior RB Darnell Holland racked up a career-high 129 yards on the ground with just four carries. His night included an impressive 123 yards on three carries in the first half, including a school-record 84-yard rush that resulted in a touchdown to make it 17-0 in the second quarter.

five takaways for the owls...

Kennesaw State generated a school record five turnovers Saturday night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, including three interceptions --DB Dorian Walker, LB Brenton Wimberly and SS Taylor Henkle--becoming the first time in program history three different players recorded an INT.

The interceptions by Wimberly and Walker were the first of their careers.

The Owls also tallied fumble recoveries by redshirt freshman LB Bryson Armstrong and Henkle. The Owls, who played turnover-free, owned a 17-0 edge in points off turnover scoring.

Junior QB Chandler Burks found WR Justin Sumpter on the perimeter in the final minutes of the first half Saturday night for an acrobatic one-handed catch for 55 yards. That connection set-up a 3-yard strike from Burks to Sumpter to put the Owls on top 24-0 entering the half.

Burks finished the game 5-for-8 with 88 yards and a TD, while Sumpter totaled two catches for 58 yards and a score.

The Owls earned their first victory of the season to improve to 1-1. Kennesaw State return to action next Saturday night at Alabama State. Kickoff in Montgomery is set for 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT).
