The first-ever playoff game at Kennesaw State kicked off at 2:04 p.m.
Junior QB Chandler Burks finished the night with two touchdown passes to junior WR Justin Sumpter and 72 rushing yards. The Owls finished with 383 total yards, including 329 on the ground.
Akebren Ralls' 55-yard interception return for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter gave Kennesaw State a 28-10 lead and put the game out of reach. The redshirt junior's pick kept alive the Owls' streak of at least one interception in every game this season.
The Owls held Samford to 58 rushing yards for the game. The defense ranks first in the nation in interceptions (22), first in turnover margin (+23), sixth in scoring defense (14.7 ppg.), 12th in rushing defense (97.0) and 12th in total defense (295.9)
