The Perch, home to the Owls’ training camp and official practices, is just a quarter-mile hike (1,320 feet) the student-athletes and coaches take every day for practice. It’s a walk that has become a tradition to over 50 returning letterwinners and 19 returning starters from the memorable 2015 inaugural season.

Jim Kiritsy, Director of Strength and Conditioning, leads the group of warm-up stretches prior to beginning a 24-period schedule of team drills under hot and humid conditions.
“We are excited about year two and we talked about goals and expectations last night in our team meetings,” Coach Bohannon said. “Really, the overall theme is starting 1-0 and going out and starting strong and finishing strong. We need to be a more consistent football team and that starts with practice.”
The Owls battled the heat and humid on three turf fields at The Perch, partaking in various team drills on the first day of training camp.
We’re back Tuesday. Same time. Same place. Same focus.
“I think being around the team everyone is excited to be back. Today was a positive step toward our goals and it was great to get back out on the field with my teammates,” said Letatau, a preseason All-Big South pick. “Last night I challenged everyone on the team to bring it every day and come out aggressive. We want to take things to the next level and we are excited to get rolling.”
The Owls will once again take the 1,320 foot trek to The Perch at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday morning as day two arrives.
